Greenpeace International is an organization that does not involve profit making. Greenpeace depends on assistance and contributions from individuals and foundation donations. Greenpeace International does not entertain any aid from the governments or corporations in the form of donations. Greenpeace International is administered by a board of directors and the members are selected by the activists and volunteers. Greenpeace International is comprised of nearly 150 employees and actively carries its mission with the assistance of volunteers. Greenpeace International focuses on vital and significant threats that involve the entire world. Anything that affects the planet’s biodiversity and the environment is given utmost importance.

Greenpeace International was established in 1971. A group of protestors decided to travel to the nearby island of Amchitka to witness the first nuclear testing by the U.S. but unfortunately, before these protestors arrived, the U.S. exploded their bomb. Their intention regarding interrupting such activities, however, gained public attention and nuclear testing was brought to a halt. The Amchitka Island was then known as a haven for birds. This Amchitka success lead the Greenpeace to agitate against nuclear testing, throwing away toxic waste, whaling, and many other environmental problems. Consequently, Greenpeace emerged as a commanding influence on global environmental protection

Greenpeace International is a self oriented organization, campaigning and agitating using non-violent activities. They express their feelings through creative defiance. Their aim is to accomplish solutions and ensure the earth and the inhabitants a secured life to cherish with all those present diversities. Greenpeace involves itself in issues relating to protecting oceans, very old forests, shunning fossil fuels and encouraging renewable energy. All these efforts are taken as a measure to stop climatic changes, eliminate toxic chemicals, and thwart genetically altered organisms from being released from outside the laboratory that they were created in. They also stand against the nuclear contamination and the threat it poses to the human race as well as all other species of this beautiful planet.

This group has made an impact as well as an impression that has proven to be much more powerful than that of the governments that we deal with. Greenpeace strongly believes that depending on governments to take action and bring in relevant changes all alone is difficult, and that is the reason non-profit organizations, like Greenpeace International, have become so desperately needed throughout the world.
